Welcome New Design to Sunday Drive Records

Posted on May 24th, 2019

We are pleased to welcome Brampton, Ontario post-rock/emo band, New Design to Sunday Drive Records. After eleven years, since forming in 2008, the band has released an EP, Burn Out The Sky (2012) and an amazing LP, Far From Home (2015), while playing hundreds of shows all with the same lineup.

The band’s growing list of influences come from a variety of genres, but the atmosphere and emotion of post-rock and emo served as the common link that brought the members together. If we were to describe New Design, it'd be as if you'd took the foundation of Appleseed Cast, added in the tension & explosive sound of Moving Mountains and finally combined modern influences of bands like Prawn, Gates or Somos.

Recently, the band teamed up with producer, Anton Delost (Seaway, Bearings, Cleopatrick) to record a follow up EP titled, Where I Need To Be that we're super excited about. The EP is set to release June 21st on Sunday Drive Records, and you can pre-order the CD. Additionally, you can head over to Exclaim! to watch the music video for the title-track, ‘Where I Need To Be’. The video is directed by Miguel Barbosa of Yeah! Films. "His vision was to capture the song's nostalgic, contemplative summer vibes in a docu-style using Toronto Island as a backdrop. He pitched the video concept as a ‘love letter to Toronto Island’" says Guitarist/Vocalist, Joseph Angilletta.

The band will also be heading out on a Canadian tour starting next month. Tour dates are listed below.
